Prof. Dr. Ersen Aydın Yağmur, Türkiye'de zooloji biliminin az çalışılmış ancak kritik öneme sahip alanlarından biri olan Arachnida (Örümcekler, Akrepler) sınıfına, özel olarak da Scorpiones (Akrepler) takımına odaklanmış yetkin bir akademisyendir. Çalışmaları, Türkiye'nin akrep tür çeşitliliğinin belirlenmesi, sistematik analizi, zehir biyo-toksikolojisi ve zoocoğrafik yayılışının haritalandırılması açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Halen Manisa Celal Bayar Üniversitesi (MCBÜ) Alaşehir Meslek Yüksekokulu'nda akademik görevini sürdürmektedir.
